How I work
Three principles that apply in every lesson, whether it is fractions in 4th grade or functions at Gymnasium.
Before I explain, I listen. Your child solves a problem and says out loud what they are thinking. That shows me where the thread breaks, and that is where I start.
There are no stupid questions. Asking the same thing three times means it hasn’t clicked yet. Then I explain it a different way.
I work with the materials from school or with my own. For Gymi preparation and individual exercises I create my own materials. If you send me the school material beforehand, I prepare for it. The goal is that over time your child no longer needs me.

English at home, German at school?
I grew up bilingual, in Singapore, Germany and Zurich. With me your child learns the school material in German. The assessment, lesson reports and our communication can be in English.
That way nobody is left out: not your child at school, and not you when you have questions.
Your questions for me
Is it really always you who teaches, or is there a team?
There is no team. I am the only tutor at lernform and teach every lesson myself. I know your child, their material and their Lehrmittel, and your child doesn’t have to explain everything again in each lesson.
We speak English at home. Is that a problem?
No. I grew up bilingual, in Singapore, Germany and Zurich, and I support many international students, from local state schools as well as international schools. The assessment, lesson reports and our communication can all be in English.
Why do you only teach three subjects?
Because I am confident enough in math, German and English to explain the material in several ways. That is exactly what is needed when the first explanation doesn’t click. If what you need doesn’t fit what I offer, I will tell you in the assessment.
Do you know the Zurich curriculum and the Gymi exam?
I work with the Lehrmittel of the Zurich state schools, based on Lehrplan 21. I prepare children for the central entrance exam in German and math in one-to-one lessons, with past exams and my own exercises on the problem types that come up. I don’t give a guarantee of admission.
Do you also teach families outside Zurich?
Yes. I live in Zurich and teach online, so where you live doesn’t matter. I know the Zurich school system from my own experience. I look at the Lehrmittel of other cantons before the first lesson.
